Is Hell Real?

Examining Scripture with reverence

What did Jesus say about judgment?

Interpretation · editorial overview

Jesus speaks of judgment, exclusion, destruction, and accountability in several literary settings. Matthew 25 places a final separation alongside concrete mercy toward vulnerable people. Luke 16 confronts indifference to a poor neighbor and the refusal to hear Scripture. Those settings matter: warnings are not an invitation to speculate about who deserves torture. Read each passage as part of its surrounding teaching. Christians interpret some images differently, but the seriousness of responding to God and caring for others is difficult to miss. This is an original interpretive overview, not a verbatim quotation or a declaration about any identifiable person’s destiny.
