Paul describes salvation as God’s gift, received through faith rather than earned through works. Those made alive in Christ are created for good works. This is an identified paraphrase.
Read in context
The sequence matters: grace precedes the transformed life. A prayer, donation, intense fear, or impressive testimony cannot purchase salvation. Repentance and faith are a response to Christ, not a transaction controlled by a website. The rest of the chapter connects grace to reconciliation and a new community. Seek a church where the gospel produces humility and care, not pressure and dependency.
A question for reflection
Where are you treating God’s grace as something you must buy or perform?
